Slip and Drive Ductwork

The most common type of rectangular ductwork is slip and drive ductwork—the most typical transverse (end-to-end) commercial HVAC duct connection. Step 1: Checking the edges of Slips and Drives Ductwork

Check your slips and drive ductwork. Two opposite sides on each end will have raw edges. In contrast, the other two opposing sides will have hemmed edges—the S-slip slides on the rough edge.Thus, The driving cleat will slide on the bound edge when it reaches the hemmed edge of the next piece of duct.

Step 2: Measure the lengths.

Step 5: Continue this process until the joints are connected correctly

Firstly, Place one of the driving cleats where the hemmed edges meet. Tap it with a hammer until 1 inch of it sticks up above and below the ductwork.
